I’m not telling you anything new, organizing your wedding will entail a certain number of expenses! You may have a fairly precise idea of the overall budget to organize yours. You probably also know what services you will need:
The rental of a domain or a reception hall, the catering / restaurant service, the DJ and/or musicians, the floral decoration and the bride’s bouquet, the bride’s dress, the groom’s suit, the rings, the wedding planner to organize all this, the babysitter team, a videographer, etc.
But also, why not, the rental of cars, a selfie terminal, the services of a pyrotechnician, a magician or who knows what else?
Not to mention the DIY decor, the sparkling candles and the candy bar!
And of course, last but not least, the photographer’s report!
A wedding is not just the union of a couple. It’s a day of celebration. And for this celebration to be successful, the music must be of quality, the dishes must be delicious and the wine excellent!
I have always thought that a successful wedding day was a wedding where the guests have fun and feel good. You have to make them dream! And for all this, you want the best! But the best has a price!
You may therefore have to make choices and define priorities to assume all these costs. For some items, you have a fairly precise idea of what the service will cost you. For others, it may still be quite vague.
As you already suspect, I am going to defend my parish here and talk to you about the importance of the wedding photo report!
I do not wish to encourage you to neglect the other service provider items. They are important for your wedding day to be successful. So take the time to choose them and discover their rates and packages!
Allow me to submit this reflection to you:
In 10 or 20 years, an object will remind you daily of your wedding day. It is the ring that you will wear. You will also take with you the memories of this beautiful day. But apart from that, nothing will remain.
Nothing except… your wedding photos!
And what’s wonderful with a photo report is that it gains value over time! And it gains even more when you share it with others!
When I create a wedding report, I think of those who will look at it in several years. When your children and grandchildren browse your wedding album in a few years, they will live a part of the emotions that you experienced that day and you will relive them with them!
And that’s the most beautiful gift you can give them!
What you are offering yourself today is joy for tomorrow!
If you share this conviction with me, if you think that you absolutely need a beautiful photo report for your wedding, tons of questions probably come to your mind.
What is the price of a (real) wedding photographer service? What makes one photographer expensive and another not? Why do the prices displayed show such large gaps? Is it due to the quality of the photos? To what is included in the services? And how much are the memories of this day worth? All these questions are quite legitimate. And in this sense, the choice of your wedding photographer is not a trivial choice.
Do you want your photographer to be present throughout the entire wedding or just for a few hours?
Will you have prepared things in advance with them? Or will they arrive discreetly 5 minutes before the ceremony?
What do you expect from your photographer? Creativity? Availability? Discretion? Dedication? Experience?
What style of photos do you like? Creative portraits? Pure documentary style? Natural colors? Black and white?
Does your wedding photographer regularly seek training from their peers?
After photographing hundreds of weddings, do they still reflect on how they can improve each time?
Do they hide behind their camera due to extreme shyness, or are they comfortable directing a group of 100 people for group photos?
Can they capture the church ceremony without annoying the priest?
Will they handle the pressure during crucial moments and not miss the bride’s entrance or the exchange of rings?
Can they maintain a consistent level of creativity and succeed with each photo throughout the day, capturing every moment of the unfolding story?
Does your wedding photographer offer additional options like selfie booths, drone footage, or video services? To what extent can they handle these tasks alongside the photo coverage?
Do they offer fixed packages, or are they adaptable to the unique constraints of each wedding?
Will these photos be worked on, retouched, or delivered as raw files? Will there be a large volume of unsorted images, or a carefully prepared reportage offering dynamic storytelling and visual coherence? In short, does the photographer prioritize quantity over quality?
How will the photos be delivered? Will it be a simple download link or a beautiful customized online gallery where you can view the images on any device, share them with your guests, and order enlargements?
Will the photo reportage be delivered only in digital format, or will it also be printed in a beautiful bound album? And who manufactures this album and how?
Is the photographer insured? Do they have a backup plan if their camera malfunctions? What arrangements are in place if they fall ill on the wedding day? Is there a contract? In essence, is this professional photographer truly professional?
Most importantly, since they’ll spend a significant part of the day with you, is this photographer cool? Will your guests find them friendly? That’s crucial!
Lastly, is all of this, everything we’ve discussed, important to you? There are no right or wrong answers to this last question. But if the answer is yes, choose your wedding photographer carefully!
